I have been working at Koala Childcare Centre for 7 years. I am Diploma Trained and have a certification in Cooking Nutrition. I recently moved into the position as cook Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday and I strive to deliver my passion and love of food. My aim is that the children be educated on healthy eating and activate their interest in how I prepare the food and where it comes from. I enjoy the challenge of developing new recipes to incorporate all the needs of our children. I enjoy baking for the children especially our Banana cake or our Orange and Poppy Seed cake. All our cakes and muffins are from natural ingredients with no added preservatives. Ensuring that the food tastes good while also maintaining a nutritional menu. Within our menu we include a diverse range of cultural dishes and would welcome any feedback.
I started working 2 days a week in the kitchen nearly 5 and a half years ago. I am a pastry cook by trade but got my passion for working with all food, through the many family gatherings and parties I hosted at home. I have 2 boys, ages 25 and 15. I love feeding people good food, and feel I'm in the perfect job. Seeing the children's faces when I wheel in the trolley, always brightens my day, because I know that it is the best produce feeding their growing bodies and they are happy to eat it. It's a pleasure to work at Koala. Since working here, I have undertaken several Nutrition and Menu courses to keep up to date with current food trends and dietary needs.

WHY IS THE AUSTRALIAN GROWN LABEL IMPORTANT?
According to a 2008 consumer research project undertaken by Newspoll, 33% of Australians mistakenly believe fresh pork can be imported, when by law, all fresh pork is Australian. However, when it comes to processed pork, the story is less ‘locally-friendly’.

We have worked hard sourcing local produce from our farmers. All our dairy and eggs (free range) now comes from Aussie farms.
