As a team we believe that attachments are important for the children to feel safe and secure. With strong attachments children will be able to play independently and become active learners in our environment. Current research and theorists Cooper, Hoffman, Marvin & Powell support our rooms beliefs.

About our Room
In our Birth – 2 Year Old Room we believe that children learn through play. Our learning environment is set up in different learning areas which will encourage and strengthen a range of diverse developmental skills which every child needs to grow and develop. Our room program is based on individual children’s development (needs, strengths) and influenced by the children’s interests. Educators change our environment fortnightly to accommodate our focus children’s long term goals or spontaneously throughout the day as the children help guide our program.
Throughout the year we also celebrate special events that may happen in your child’s life or within our centre’s community.
Within our room we focus on recycling, compositing, and gardening, introducing the babies to basic ideas around sustainability and caring for our environment. It’s lovely to share this important message with the children of our future....
Singing as we learn is also incorporated into our daily routine. We will often sing through various individual routines such as nappy changes, as we teach/guide new skills and to transition children between areas. We offer small group times for the children to join if they wish and sing a variety of different songs with our felt board as visuals and read purposeful and meaningful stories based on the children's day.

In our Birth-Two-year-old room we have five educators who bring a wide range of knowledge and diverse practices into our team. Play Spaces
The Birth-Two-year-old room has its own play space separate from the other rooms in the centre. It is inclusive of a creative/ meal area, indoor/outdoor veranda play space, outdoor yard play space, two cot rooms, and its own nappy change area.
We promote an indoor/outdoor routine where children are able to choose their own environment to play and explore. We have an enclosed veranda which has blinds so the children can play during all types of weather. Our yards consist of a sandpit as well as a garden which the children are encouraged to take care of in terms of watering and planting new plants. Sustainability is also embedded within our program as we care for edible gardens.
Enrolment for the Birth-2 Room
When parents first enrol in our Birth – 2 Year Old Room they are booked into an appointment with the Team Leader so we can get to know you and your child on a personal basis. This will help us to learn about your child’s interests, personal needs and requirements such as bottles, sleeps, likes and dislikes. Within the room we incorporate your child’s individual home routine. We will also book in three visit days for approximately one hour each visit so you and your child can become familiar with both the educators and learning environment before your official start date. This is an important time for both you and your child as this will be the beginning of building basic attachments needed for when the time comes that you will say, “Goodbye” and leave for the day.
GOODBYES can be difficult, however they are an important part of the days routine. As your child develops an understanding that you are leaving by saying 'goodbye' they will also start to develop a sense of trust when you return. This important practice as well as the strong development of relationships within the room will foster a strong sense of wellbeing and enable the children to develop a sense of belonging.
Parents are welcome to call throughout the day to find out how their child has been or for any other information needed. We also have an open door policy where parents can come in and play in the room.
Educators will document the children's interests daily and Parents will receive a day story via email entailing the current interest, projects and fun their child has been involved in during their day.
Sleep Environment
We have two sleep rooms with appropriately checked cots as well as stretcher beds for when your child transitions from their cot to a bigger bed. We provide all cot sheets and will wash them on premises so no need to worry about bringing linens. For our stretcher beds you are able to purchase sheets which come in a variety of different colours and modern patterns.
Breast Feeding
Are you breast feeding? We promote breast feeding and we have a rocking chair in a quiet room with soft calming music playing should you wish to pop in during your day to feed. You are welcome to express milk and we will bottle and heat to offer to your child in our arms, attempting to mimic your routine from home.
